Everything you need to know about TCA peels

Whatʻs the hype about chemical peels, specifically the Smart TCA Peel from Skinceuticals? Our nurse injector Kiana says that this treatment was the highlight and jumpstart of her healthy skin journey.


What is the Smart TCA Peel?

This peel is composed of unbuffered 15% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and 3% glycolic acid. It is a deep superficial peel that is stronger than our BioRePeel treatment. With this peel, you can expect a more intense peeling of skin that lasts for about 7-10 days.


What does it do?

This peel can help with concerns such as aging, fine lines, wrinkles, texture, large pores, and even dark spots. It works by chemically exfoliating the skin which causes causing improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.


Who is it for?

This peel is suitable for all skin types and concerns. There are some contraindications which is why we do an in person assessment to see if this specific treatment is the right one for you.


How to prepare for your appointment?

Stop all active ingredients, including retinoids, at least 1 week prior to treatment. Avoid excessive sun exposure prior to treatment. Expect to be at your appointment for about 30 minutes for the treatment.


What do I do after the peel?

Use a gentle cleanser, gentle moisturizer and SPF for the following week. Do not pick or peel at skin; let it peel naturally. Do not use exfoliants, active ingredients, or retinoids for the following week. Avoid excessive heat for at least 7 days. Make sure to stay out of the sun while skin is peeling; use hats and SPF.
